London Polo Club's goal is simple - accessibility and fun. Starting small, the club has gradually grown - with help from the Toronto Polo Club, as well as Polo Canada.
Depending on the field conditions, polo is played outdoors from May through to September/October. We have two fields at the home of one of our members, 15-20 minutes north of the city - a small stick and ball field, as well as a larger playing field. In fitting with our relaxed, farm orientated approach, we are fairly unique in having a small creek to cross to get to the main field, all adding to the "Up the Creek" experience! Also, it is not uncommon for members to get together for a couple drinks after chukkas, and relive some of the best moments.
This Season, we also have an indoor/outdoor arena in which to play, at another member's farm, also north of the city. Here, there is a full sized field that is seeded and maturing.
In the summer, we play twice a week, and this year, we are looking to increase this to 3-4 times per week. During the winter, Polo is played more sporadically. Depending on the enthusiasm from members, we get together to play in a local indoor arena.
In mid June, the London Polo Club hosts a tournament as part of the Ontario Polo Tour; a series of low goals tournaments for people with 1-2 horses.
As a young club we are gradually growing our facilities and opportunities as the members progress to higher levels of polo. Currently, the club has 10 members, but we welcome more to join the fun!
